Truth time: I’ve always been (more than) a little petrified of retinol. Any time I’ve used it, it’s caused immediate skin flare ups, irritation, and scaly patches all over my face. I’m now 44 years old (45 in January), and retinol has stayed out of my evening skincare routine. Until now, that is.
Enter the Osea Dream Night Cream. I’ve been calling this my “facial in a jar” to anyone who will listen (okay, mainly my mom). It’s formulated with a bevy of ingredients that work to reduce wrinkles and provide instant hydration while simultaneously calming and soothing. In other words, it’s the reason my 44-year-old skin won’t stop glowing.

The hero ingredient of Osea’s night cream is, as you may have guessed, retinol. More specifically, bio retinol, which is derived from blue-green microalgae to act as a safe and stable alternative to traditional retinol. As someone who’s experienced all of retinol’s unsightly side effects, yet keeps wanting to enjoy the multiple skincare benefits of this vitamin A derivative (like diminishing wrinkles, evening skin tone, and banishing acne) that definitely made me sit up and take notice.
The algae-derived retinol alternative teams with king of bitters to treat the signs of aging, including wrinkles and fatigue, to help it feel more firm and supple. Additionally, the night cream contains pink rock rose extract to improve dullness and dehydration, while organic wild lavender extract helps calm and soothe skin. And, since it’s also formulated with a combination of hydrators like shea butter, glycerin, and squalane, it’s a super enriching and hydrating moisturizer for your evening skincare routine.
So, the big question: Does this night cream work? I have to answer with an enthusiastic, unequivocal yes. I’ve been applying it as the final step in my nighttime routine for the last week and a half, and my skin is plump, hydrated, and glowing. Since my skin tends to get super dry once fall and winter roll around, it’s been drinking up the hydrating ingredients. But the best part is that I never experienced even one iota of irritation, itchiness, or dryness. I’ve also already started noticing a decrease in the pronunciation of my crows’ feet and forehead wrinkles (I can only hope it helps with my pesky 11 lines, too).
The night cream has earned hundreds of, ahem, glowing reviews from shoppers with mature skin. One shopper in their 70s said their skin “feels like velvet after only a few months,” while a 62-year-old shopper said it’s a “heavy-hitting nighttime moisturizer that doesn’t feel greasy” and their face “feels better than ever.” Still other reviewers said their wrinkles are “definitely less noticeable,” lines are “visibly tighter,” and their skin is “firmer and smoother” and looks “so rejuvenated” in the morning.
In terms of how the moisturizer works for sensitive skin, many reviewers called that out, too. “I wake up with super hydrated skin,” one menopausal shopper said, adding, “It hasn’t broken me out, either.” Others said they “wake up to a glowing face,” it’s “not too light or too greasy,” and it’s “especially hydrating with no skin irritation.”
As someone who assumed I’d never actually find a retinol product that worked for my sensitive skin, I’m beyond thrilled that the Osea Dream Night Cream is now one of my skincare staples. Shop it for $68 on Osea’s website, along with other Osea products, below.
