If you’re a parent who shops regularly at Target, you may want to double-check your last haul. Up & Up Baby Wipes sold at the retailer nationwide have been recalled due to potential microbial contamination, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
Per the FDA’s announcement, the recalled wipes may be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia and Burkholderia gladioli, and could cause “serious and life-threatening infections,” including sepsis and pneumonia, if used. Target and the manufacturer of the wipes have already received several complaints of adverse reactions, including “skin irritation, eye irritation, and infections potentially associated with the use of the product.”

Which products are impacted by the recall?
The recalled products were sold at Target stores nationwide and on Target’s website. The affected wipes were packaged in plastic pouches under the Up & Up brand, and span multiple scents and sizes.
Per the FDA, discoloration on the wipes may signal that something is wrong. But in many cases, the issue goes unnoticed, which means you’ll want to confirm whether your wipes are included in the recall.
