Bobbi Brown is a household name for a reason. The makeup mogul, author (of beauty books and her upcoming memoir, Still Bobbi), and founder of her eponymous makeup brand and now Jones Road Beauty, has spent decades in the industry perfecting formulas and coming up with products to fit gaps in the market. As the pioneer of the no makeup makeup look, everything she creates is made to elevate your natural beauty. Now, the 68-year-old is sharing the one product she says “checks all the boxes,” her brand’s latest launch, The Classic Lip.
Despite launching her career with 10 shades of lipstick in Bergdorf Goodman decades ago, she admitted to foregoing the staple for some time. “I stopped wearing lipstick for many years because they all felt dry and powdery,” she said. “It took me a while to decide what made a lipstick formula excellent. That’s how The Classic Lip was born. Smooth, satiny, lightweight, comfortable—it checks all the boxes.”
I had a chance to try The Classic Lip, and can attest to the lightweight, creamy formula. As an avid lipstick wearer (I love everything from a bright red to a rosy natural hue), and big fan of the brand’s existing lippies (check out the Lip Pencils, Cool Gloss, Lippie Stick, and the Lip and Cheek Stick), I’ve been waiting for a true lipstick to join my ever-expanding Jones Road makeup collection. And these were worth the wait. Available in 12 shades, these fit into just about any makeup routine for people of every age. And though Brown tells me she isn’t one for a bright pout, she loves to add color back to her lips with one of her more natural shades.
What makes these so Bobbi Brown is that they can be worn on their own, with a coordinating lip pencil, and even under a gloss if you’re looking for a more bespoke hue or want to add some shine (which she emphasizes women of any age can include in their routine!).
