  • Lucky Foods brand Cinnamon Powder has been recalled due to potential lead contamination.
  • It is part of an ongoing ground cinnamon recall that has affected 20 different products so far.
  • Here are the products affected by this recall.

Cooking for the holidays often involves reaching for some cinnamon, but make sure to double-check the label before you do—yet another ground cinnamon product has been recalled this month.

Lucky Foods brand Cinnamon Powder was voluntarily recalled by TBC Distribution Corporate in Brooklyn, NY. According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated after the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets analyzed the product and found elevated levels of lead.

Which products are affected?

This recall specifically affects Lucky Foods brand Cinnamon Powder sold in 40 g pouches with due dates before September 15, 2027. No lot numbers were provided. The products were distributed to retail locations as well as bakeries and restaurants across the following states: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.

If you believe you have a recalled product, do not use it. It’s worth noting that this recall comes on the heels of a number of similar cinnamon recalls. Since July 2024, 19 other ground cinnamon products have been recalled due to potential lead contamination. A full list of products impacted during that time frame can be found on the FDA website.

Potential health impact of lead exposure

Longterm exposure to even low levels of lead may lead to serious issues in children, such as developmental and growth delays, behavioral problems, and learning disabilities. Adults are also at risk for issues such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and reproductive issues.

Children under the age of six are particularly susceptible to developing health issues due to lead exposure. Symptoms don’t always present right away or at all. When they do, they may include headaches, vomiting, fatigue, cramps, personality and behavioral changes, anemia, and infertility.

What to do with recalled product

If you have Lucky Foods brand Cinnamon Powder—or any of the other ground cinnamon that’s been recalled—in your pantry, don’t use it. Instead, throw it out or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
