Perennial fitness guru Denise Austin says she stayed “happy and healthy” through menopause, and she wants to help others do the same.
In a new Instagram Reel, the 69-year-old shared a simple move to address “menopause belly.” After adding the two-minute exercise to your daily routine, “you WILL start to see a difference in that problem area so many of us know all too well,” Austin wrote in a caption. She also touted the move’s benefits for ab strength, back support, and balance.

Try the “menopause belly” move for yourself
In her demonstration, Austin begins in a standing position with her left hand raised and her right hand on her hip. She then pulls down her left elbow and lifts her right knee, letting her elbow touch her knee before extending both again. “Reach and pull across,” she instructs viewers as she does the move herself.
Austin suggests doing the move for one minute on each side every day.

Austin’s interest in menopause wellness goes beyond a single ab exercise. She recently released an issue of her magazine, Fit Over 50, dedicated to this phase of life. “[The issue] is packed with everything I wish I had known sooner!! You are not in this alone, and we are going to navigate it TOGETHER!!” Austin wrote in a caption teasing the issue.
A few days after the issue’s release, Austin also announced a new video series she’ll be launching on Instagram. Called “Denise Chats Menopause,” the series will feature Austin answering followers’ questions about this phase of life. “I have been wanting to do this for so long!! Menopause is something every single one of us will go through… or already has… and yet there is still so much we do not talk about!! I want to change that!!” she wrote in a caption, inviting fans to submit their questions. “This series is all about giving you real answers, real tips, and real support for this stage of life.”
