Confession: I’ve never really understood pajamas. Whenever I go to bed, I usually throw on an old, oversized T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants and call it a day. But, per usual, it turns out that Oprah knows what she’s talking about. How I tested
I wore the Cozy Earth’s Bamboo Stretch-Knit Long Sleeve Pajama Set for a total of about a month, putting them as I was winding down for bed and while sleeping each night. These pajamas are available in sizes ranging from XS to XXXL and in two different lengths, Regular and Tall, as well as in 13 different colors. I’m usually a size Small in most clothes and stand at a height of just over 5’3”, so I opted for the Navy in a size Small and regular length.
The design and fit
This pajama set includes a button-up long-sleeve shirt and pants with an elastic waistband, both crafted from a soft stretch-knit that’s made from bamboo-based viscose. Right out of the package, I was impressed by the quality. The contrast piping detail that went along the button-up, collar, front pocket, sleeve cuffs, and pants hems made them look so elegant. I also thought the Navy color I opted for was so chic and classic (though the various seasonal pattern options are also super cute, in my opinion!).
Upon putting the pajamas on, I instantly loved the super drapey, relaxed silhouette—especially with the pants, which have an elastic waistband that’s adjustable with a drawstring to allow for a super comfortable and relaxed fit. I also really appreciated that the pants had two side pockets. However, I did notice that the sleeves of the shirt and the bottom of the pants were a bit long on me. The brand notes that these pajamas are “generously sized for relaxed luxury,” so I probably could’ve sized down to an XS—but I didn’t mind the oversized fit at all (I’m used to sleeping in a big T-shirt, after all!).
The feel
The fit is flattering and cute, but what makes these pajamas stand above the rest is the super-soft, luxurious feel. The soft-stretch knit material of these pajamas are made with 95% premium viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex—and I mean it when I say that this fabric truly feels like butter. It’s silky smooth and incredibly lightweight; I was amazed at how this material made wearing pajamas feel like luxury. I could definitely see why Oprah previously described it as feeling “like a second skin.”
The instant I put these pajamas on, I was amazed at how breathable and pleasantly cool the fabric felt against my skin. In fact, the brand says this set “sleeps degrees cooler than cotton to keep your temperature just right through the night.” I’m not a particularly hot sleeper—in fact, my bedroom right now during the wintertime tends to get super cold, so these pajamas actually didn’t feel warm enough during the times I had the heater off. But, during the nights I did sleep with the heater blasting, they never felt too hot and kept me at a comfortable temperature throughout the night.
Additionally, these pajamas washed super well. I followed the care instructions from the brand when laundering (machine wash cold with normal detergent, do not use fabric softener or bleach, then machine dry normal), and both the pajama shirt and pants came out still looking and feeling great—no shrinking or pilling so far.
