Oprah Loves These Under-$50 Leggings for Their ‘Stretch and Compression’

I live my life exclusively in leggings — seriously, I don’t own even a single pair of jeans. As such, I’m always on the lookout for the next great pair to add to my wardrobe. My most recent beam of inspiration is none other than Oprah herself, since her 2024 Favorite Things List includes the Melt Fit Essential Leggings. And the fact that they’re under $50? Consider my interest piqued.

Oprah praised these leggings for multiple reasons. “These cute leggings offer just the right combination of stretch and compression — and pockets!” she raved. 

The Melt Fit Essential Leggings are designed in a soft blend of polyester and spandex—hence that blend of compression and stretch that made Oprah sit up and take notice. They have a high-rise waist with a wide, flat waistband and a 28-inch inseam. They also have two deep pockets, so you can easily hold essentials like your keys, wallet, and phone whether you’re out for a run in a pair of Oprah’s favorite sneakers, or just out running errands. But the interesting design elements don’t stop there. These leggings also feature exposed seam details down the legs, which not only offer visual interest, but help to create a slimming silhouette. I’m personally loving the shorter inseam, too, since it will be perfect for my five-foot height.

If you love matching sets, you’re in luck—Oprah’s love for Melt Fit actually extends past these leggings. She included not only the leggings, but the brand’s Essential Jacket and Essential Sports Bra in her Favorite Things List, too. She called the jacket “smart-looking” with a “stitched design that creates a flattering silhouette,” and said the sports bra is “supportive and comfortable.”

Based on Oprah’s recommendation alone, I’ve already added these leggings to my cart. In case you want some additional opinions, though, shoppers on Melt Fit’s website are just as impressed. One 77-year-old reviewer who’s purchased multiple pairs for herself, daughter, and granddaughter, said they “maintain their shape and color and are very comfortable.” Another shopper used them during strength training workouts and was undeniably impressed. “After searching endlessly for the perfect leggings and trying out so many different brands, I finally found *the* one,” they wrote, adding that they “didn’t budge” and are “flexible [and] supportive.”
