I can’t shut up about Bio-Oil’s skincare, especially the body oil and the gel. As a shopping editor in my mid-50s, I’ve tested various anti-aging products for mature skin over the years, and nothing has impressed me as much as Bio-Oil. Why I Love Bio-Oil
It’s my favorite moisturizer. The lotion, skincare oil, and gel are all lightweight, but they leave my mature skin feeling soft long after they’re absorbed. They have Vitamin E, which locks in moisture and soothes my skin whenever it’s dry and itchy. I especially love using the oil and the gel on my knees, elbows, and heels. I recently started using the oil on my face as a nighttime moisturizer, and get this: I’ve noticed that I don’t have to apply moisturizer the next day (not counting my SPF).
It improves the appearance of my aging skin. I use Bio-Oil at least twice a day in lieu of hand lotion, and the skin tone on my hands and arms looks less blotchy and smoother than they have in a long time. The gel and the lotion contain hyaluronic acid, and all three contain Vitamin A (a retinoid), which promotes collagen production and helps remove dead skin cells. It’s honestly the reason I added the oil to my face routine.
It helped heal my scars. Last summer, I got a horrible case of poison ivy that left scars on my arms and hands. Once it dried up, I treated the scars with the oil, and today they’re gone. I was surprised at how quickly it healed my skin. I wish I had known about Bio-Oil 20 years ago when I was pregnant! (Kim Kardashian famously raved about using it on her stretch marks.)
It smells amazing. The ingredient list includes chamomile, sunflower, lavender, rosemary, and citrus. The result is a slightly floral, clean scent. Does anyone else remember Bain De Soleil, the orange gel suntan lotion from the 70s and 80s? The oil and the gel both smell a lot like that, so I’m loving this nostalgia moment with my Bio-Oil.
