13 Best Body Lotions for Aging Skin 2025, According to Dermatologists

As we age, our skin gets thinner, dryer, and loses elasticity thanks to a loss of moisture and collagen, which is why we all know that moisture is key. Sure, it’s easy to remember to apply our favorite moisturizer for mature skin to our faces, but while we invest in wrinkle creams, neck creams, and other facial products, the skin on our bodies is often overlooked. But the best body lotion for aging skin is just as important!

“As we age, our skin undergoes structural and biochemical changes that are often less talked about than facial aging,” says Nayan Patel, PharmD, and the founder of Auro Skincare “It can show up as roughness, dullness, crepiness, sagging and skin laxity, and may also be associated with increased itch or irritation,” explains explains Marisa Garshick, M.D., F.A.A.D.,, a board certified dermatologist at MDCS Dermatology in New York.

Meet the Experts: Marisa Garshick, M.D., F.A.A.D., a board-certified dermatologist at MDCS Dermatology in New York; Noah Gratch, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at MDCS Dermatology in New York; Nayan Patel, PharmD, founder of Auro Skincare.

When considering a body lotion for mature skin, Garshick says “it is important to look for key ingredients that will help to boost hydration, repair the skin, and improve overall skin texture and tone,” to replace what’s being lost. First and foremost, look for a humectant that will help retain moisture in the skin, says Noah Gratch, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at MDCS Dermatology in New York. “Clinically, maintaining hydration is critical even with lightweight formulas,” he says. Yes, hydration is crucial, but anti-aging ingredients like like ceramides, niacinamide, antioxidants, and even retinol can also be important, depending on how mature your skin is and what skin concerns you have.

Not sure where to start? Ahead, we rounded up recommendations from our board-certified dermatologist experts for all kinds—from sensitive skin to textured to itchy and more—to see which body lotion for aging skin might be the best fit for you.
