  • Blueroot Health recalled Vital Nutrients Aller-C vitamin C supplements nationwide due to undeclared allergens, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
  • Here’s a list of impacted products.

If taking a vitamin C supplement is a part of your daily routine, you may want to take a closer look at the label. Popular vitamin C supplements nationwide have been recalled due to undeclared ingredients, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

Per the FDA’s announcement, the two lots of Vital Nutrients Aller-C supplements were recalled by Blueroot Health because they may contain egg, hazelnut, and soy that were not disclosed on the label. “People who have allergies and/or severe sensitivity to egg, hazelnut, and soy run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they consume the affected supplements, the FDA warns.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Which products are impacted by the recall?

All of the supplements impacted by the recall were manufactured by Blueroot Health and sold in white plastic bottles containing either 100 or 200 capsules. Check your medicine cabinet for the following:

  • 200-count bottles of Vital Nutrients Aller-C with lot number 25E04-B
  • 100-count bottles of Vital Nutrients Aller-C with lot numbers 25E04-A or 25E04-B

All of the recalled bottles display the expiration date of 05/27. The supplements were distributed nationwide by Vital Nutrients and other online retailers. More information, including UPC codes for the impacted products, can be found in the FDA’s enforcement report.

What should I do with a recalled product?

If you purchased one of the recalled bottles of supplements, the FDA advises that you immediately stop taking them, regardless of whether you have an allergy or sensitivity to one of the undeclared ingredients. You can return the product to Blueroot Health for a replacement bottle. If you have any questions, you can email [email protected] or call the number (888) 328-9992. No illnesses associated with the recalled supplements have been reported. However, if you do have a reaction, be sure to get medical attention right away.
