Crowds and long lines have come to be synonymous with a bi-weekly trip to the local Costco Wholesale. But, for many members making the trip last Friday, there was another draw aside from buy-in-bulk paper towels and a $1.50 hot dog combo meal.
On January 30, select Costco stores released the Kirkland Signature x Nike SB Dunk Lows for $134.99. The shoe is outfitted with a light grey upper, made to resemble Kirkland brand sweatshirts. It also has the Kirkland logo and a hang tag that looks like a Costco membership card.
The collaboration with Nike quickly picked up traction online and even saw fans waiting in line to snag a pair at Costco locations in New York, Oregon, California and Washington, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
“These are so harddd🔥they look comfy too,” one person commented on a TikTok video showcasing the shoe. “My store in WA sold out immediately,” another person added. “Ran to Costco after seeing ur video,” a third person chimed in.
While the shoes have been selling quickly in store, they are not available for purchase on Costco’s website. And though Women’s Wear Daily reported that the shoes may become available at more locations in the coming days, that has not stopped resale prices from soaring.
Sites like StockX, GOAT, and eBay have all seen the shoes offered for prices ranging between $400 and $1,000 within days of their release, according to FOX Business.
Over the years Costco has been known to have some pretty viral releases, but this one may just be its most talked about yet.
