As a registered dietitian, I’m always exploring practical ways to help people improve their nutrient intake. With so many Americans struggling to meet the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables, I was intrigued by the idea of trying a wellness shot every day for a week. Not only was I curious to see if it would make a difference in how I feel, but I also wanted to discover if it could be a useful tool to recommend to clients looking for simple solutions to boost their nutrition intake.

I decided to use this experiment as a pre-workout ritual. After some searching, I landed on Uncle Matt’s Organic Ultimate Athlete. Because these shots contain concentrated fruit juices, individuals with diabetes, managing PCOS, or those strictly managing their blood sugar should ask their healthcare provider if these drinks are appropriate for their needs. As a dietitian, I give this habit a thumbs-up. It is a food-first approach to nutrition that supports heart health, manages inflammation, and helps you start your day on a healthy note. And it’s a habit that I may start adopting long-term myself!
