- Some bottles of Oribe’s Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo have been recalled.
- The products tested positive for Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria.
- Check your shampoo bottles against the information below to see if they are included in the recall.
You may want to check your hair care products. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a report warning that Oribe’s Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo has been recalled nationwide over contamination concerns.
The shampoo reportedly tested positive for Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria. According to the FDA, these bacteria “pose little medical risk” to healthy people. However, those with certain preexisting health conditions—particularly people with weakened immune systems—may be more likely to become infected. This type of bacteria is known to contaminate cosmetics, partly due to its resistance to parabens and other preservatives; nearly a million units of Amika shampoo were recalled in 2024 for the same reason.
Below, how to tell if your cosmetics are included in the recall, and what to do with affected products.
