  • Nearly 200,000 cans of soup have been recalled nationwide, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
  • The cans are being pulled from shelves over concerns about potential spoilage.
  • Here’s a list of impacted products.

If Amy’s Kitchen is your go-to brand for canned soup, you may want to take a second look before heating up your next bowl. Over 180,000 cans of the brand’s low-sodium lentil soup have been recalled, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Per the FDA’s announcement, the canned soup is being pulled from shelves due to “potential for spoilage.” The FDA gave the recall a Class II designation, which means that consuming the impacted soup “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” That means you’re unlikely to develop a serious illness or injury from consuming the recalled soup, but it’s still best to avoid it.

Here’s how to tell if your canned soups are included in the recall, and what to do with affected products.

Which products are included in the recall?

The recalled soups were all sold under the Amy’s Kitchen brand name and distributed across Canada and over 20 states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Check your cans for the following information.

  • LOT: 60D0924
  • Best before: 4/2027

For more information, see the FDA’s enforcement report.

What should I do with a recalled product?

If you do find one of the recalled cans in your pantry, do not eat it. The best course of action with any recalled product is to toss it or return it to where you bought it. If you already consumed one of the recalled soups and have any health concerns, be sure to call a doctor right away.
