If you’ve recently stocked up on infant formula for your baby, you may want to double-check the label. Nara Organics Whole Milk Infant Formula, sold nationwide—including in major retailers like Target—has been recalled due to potential contamination.
According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the affected formula may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, and consuming it could result in infant botulism, a “rare but potentially fatal illness that presents a serious threat to the health of infants.” Three infant botulism hospitalizations associated with the formula have already been reported.
Here’s what you need to know.

What should I do with a recalled product?
If you do have recalled infant formula in your home, the FDA advises you to stop using it immediately.
If your child has already consumed the recalled infant formula, be on the lookout for symptoms of baby botulism, which may include, but are not limited to, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, poor feeding, drooping eyelids, and weak crying, per the FDA. Be sure to get medical attention right away if you notice any of these symptoms.
