  • Over half a million Theragun PRO G4 chargers have been recalled.
  • Therabody received reports that some of the affected chargers had caught fire.
  • Here’s how to tell if your Theragun charger is included in the recall.

Massage guns have become popular in recent years, and for good reason: They’re a handy tool for easing sore muscles, either after a hard workout or a long day of sitting at the office. But if you’ve come to rely on a Therabody Theragun—one of the more in-demand options on the market—you may want to check which model you’re using. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has issued a report warning that over half a million Theragun PRO G4 chargers have been recalled over concerns about their potential to overheat and catch fire.

According to the FDA, 584,224 fourth-generation chargers for the Theragun PRO have been recalled after Therabody—the company that manufactures the Theragun—received reports “alleging the product caught fire and other reports regarding visible smoke, melting, charger burn, burning odor, and overheating.” The FDA has labeled the recall Class II, meaning affected products may cause temporary, reversible health effects.

Here’s how to tell if your products are included in the recall.

How to tell if your Theragun charger has been recalled

Products containing the fourth-generation Theragun PRO charger are included in the recall. Check your device against the SKUs listed below.

  • G4 PRO Black US – Refurb V (SKU: TG0002428-1V10)
  • Pro Charger Single Unit (SKU: PRO-CHARGER-SINGLE)

Affected products can also be identified by a pair of codes: UDI-DI 00810036050135 and GTIN 810036051378.

What to do with affected chargers

Therabody has ordered all distributors and resellers to remove the recalled products from shelves, but has yet to issue guidance for consumers, and “is currently evaluating and addressing the issue,” according to the FDA’s report.

If you have immediate concerns, the company offers virtual customer support through its website.
