Before treating your tummy troubles with your go-to gas medication, check its box or label. Multiple lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels—a medication intended to break up gas bubbles in the digestive tract and relieve pressure, bloating, and discomfort—have been recalled by Haleon, a health and wellness company.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the pills were recalled due to contamination concerns. Affected lots may have been tainted with a diluted propylene glycol-based coolant, which leaked from a machine during the packaging process.
Ingesting Softgels contaminated with coolant could result in nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, per the FDA. However, at the time of publication, no adverse events have been reported.
The recall only applies to specific lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels, which are distinguished from other Gas-X products—such as Gas-X Ultra, Gas-X Maximum, and Gas-X Ultimate—by a distinctive green band on the packaging.

Which products were included in the recall?
If you’re concerned your pills may be affected, check your Gas-X product against the information listed below. (The lot number will be displayed both on the back of the internal blister pack and on the bottom of the box.) Recalled lots include:
Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels, 120-count: UPC 300674350419; Lots TL8K, YH9X, and YH9Y; Expiration date of November 30, 2028; Distributed between April 13, 2026 and May 5, 2026
Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels, 72-count: UPC 300439005721; Lot X78N; Expiration date of November 30, 2028; Distributed between May 4, 2026 and May 14, 2026
According to the FDA, Haleon is notifying its distributors and customers and is arranging for the return of all recalled products. Haleon also reports that the root cause of the contamination has been identified and repaired, and measures have been taken to prevent it from happening again.
What to do if you purchased an affected product
If your product matches one of the lots listed above, stop taking it immediately. To return the product and request reimbursement, contact Haleon’s consumer relations team via email at [email protected] or phone at 1-800-245-1040.
If you experience a related adverse event or become aware of one, you should contact your doctor first, then report the reaction to Haleon’s consumer relations team.
